12 Unique Self-care Resolutions From Moms You Need To Make

Self-care Resolutions for Moms

Moms are fantastical unicorns who too often make sure everyone else is taken care of and forget about themselves. So, we chatted with 10 busy moms who are making self-care a focus for their new year. We asked how they’re putting themselves higher on the priority list, and these are the self-care resolutions from moms that you need to make, too.

Mia Fallstead

“My self-care New Year Resolution is to take 30 minutes to an hour to myself every night to unwind! As a new mama it’s so hard to find a moment during the day but every night I plan on washing my face and doing a face mask! Maybe even a glass of moscato here and there 😉. It amazes me how good I feel with a fresh face!”

“My self care resolution is to take time before my son wakes up and read in peace with my coffee. Doing this has made a huge difference in my mood during the day, especially if Oliver wakes up on the wrong side of the bed. It helps me not stress about the day ahead, or think about the what if’s that might go wrong. I also have time before I go to bed to myself to end the day with self care, but sometimes I find myself cleaning or finishing up what might need to be done around the house… this morning thing? Makes a HUGE difference. It’s amazing.”

“My 2019 New Year’s resolution is to make sure I am my best self so my daughter can be her best self, everyday.”

“My self care resolution is to go outside of my comfort zone more. As a mama I am used to two roles: Mom + Partner. Over the past few years I’ve started to lose myself as an individual and have started to lose confidence in the things that made me Tia, the individual. I plan on challenging myself more with my personal goals and powering through any successes or failures that come my way!” 🖤

“My New Year resolution for self-care is to read every day. I love to read, but I’ve put aside my own reading and replaced it with my ever growing to do list and children’s books. I’d like to get back In the habit, even if it’s just 15 minutes a day.”

“My self-care resolution for the new year is to just slow down and savor the smaller moments in life. As a mom who is juggling many things, I seem to have gotten lost in the everyday routine things. I want to make an additional effort in being mentally present, while finding the beauty within those everyday tasks as a mom of two toddlers, because I now realize that nothing can be more important than my presence in their lives.”

“My self-care resolution for 2019 is to create a morning routine for myself and wake up before my son does each morning. I am committed to taking time to read my faith-based devotionals, journal, and read positive affirmations about myself daily. I am a busy, new mom and I often forget to take a little time for myself to grow spiritually. This new routine will allow me to nourish my soul before I start my day.”

“My self-care resolution is to not just think about how nice it would be to spend more time with my friends (without it being a play date), but to make it happen. A best friend just moved away, and I’m going to book a trip to spend a long weekend together, and more girls nights even if it’s after the kids are asleep.”

“As a mom, I often forget about my physical and mental health. This year I plan to invest more time into myself, to create a daily routine that allows me to get the extra rest I need, be more active and increase my water intake. To ultimately live and happier and healthier life.”

“My self-care New Year Resolution is to dedicate an hour each day to take care of my body by either going for a run, taking a Zumba class or getting some yoga done. Post pregnancy life with twins got a bit overwhelming and runs were what helped me maintain my sanity. But eventually, the excuses took over and I stopped. This time around, I want to ensure that come what may, I at least go for a quick run to not only help me stay physically but mentally fit, too.”

“My wish for 2019 is to invest more in experiences rather than things—and that my children learn to do the same.”

“As a mom, I give all of myself to my 3 kids all day, everyday. This year I’m focusing more on giving back to myself on a daily basis—not only for my own sanity, but it makes me such a better mom. From literally just taking a few deep breaths of relaxation and practicing gratitude to reading, journaling, and exercise on days where I find a bit more time and energy. It doesn’t take much, but you do have to be intentional about making time for yourself!”

Self-care for moms is so important because we need to take care of ourselves in order to be the best we can be for our kids. It’s interesting to see other mom’s goals for self-care and how they are all very similar to mine. 🙂

That’s what I’ve been doing so far this year, too! I get up about an hour before everyone else or work begins and love having those quiet moments to myself. It’s been so beneficial to me!

Oh, that is my absolute favorite! We have a place near me where it’s very quiet and zen-like. They lean back your chair and give you an eye mask and everything. It’s just magical! Enjoy your first pedicure <3
